LOPB sues DHS Over Use of Force Against Protestors and Journalists at Los Angeles Protests

Last week, the Law Office of Peter Bibring a federal suit against Kristi Noem and DHS over the policing of LA protests by federal officers including Border Patrol, Federal Protective Services, ICE Special Response Team and Homeland Security investigations, among others. 

It's astonishing how badly and repeatedly federal officers misused force in these protests. Over and over, at different protests, they shot rubber bullets, tear gas and pepperballs at journalists and protestors who posed no threat, where no force was justified. They also seriously misused the less-lethal weapons, repeatedly shooting tear gas canisters so that they hit protestors and journalists, shooting pepperballs directly at journalists at close range, and shooting rubber bullets at head level, risking serious injury.

The Law Office of Peter Bibring brought this action with ACLU of Southern California, BraunHagey & Borden LLP, Law Office of Carol Sobel, and Schonbrun, Seplow, Harris, Hoffman & Zeldes LLP.  We are proud to represent protestors out on the streets voicing their opposition to these terrorizing ICE raids, and also Los Angeles Press Club, NewsGuild-CWA and devoted journalists risking personal harm to keep the public informed.
